Sony’s AXN snaps up Red Arrow’s Falco
Sony’s male-skewed AXN channel has picked up eastern Europe rights to cop drama Falco.
AXN Central Europe has snagged pay TV rights to seasons one and two of Falco for 15 channels across the CEE region including the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.
Red Arrow International distributes the series and struck the AXN deal.
Falco is a French-language remake of Sat.1’s German police drama The Last Cop (pictured) and has been a hit for TF1 in France.
Beaubourg Audiovisuel produces the French show, which has also been acquired by Mediaset in Italy.
Axel Böhm, Red Arrow’s senior VP, sales, Europe, said: “Falco is exactly the right character-driven action series for AXN and I’m certain the show will have a great following in the CEE region.”
The series follows a police officer who is shot while on duty in 1991. He emerges from the subsequent coma in 2013 to a new world, but equally dedicated to policing the streets.
