Endemol-Shine-Core US leaders named

The joint venture behind the Endemol-Shine Group-Core Media tie-up has named its senior US management.

Endemol North America co-chairman and CEOs Cris Abrego (pictured) and Charlie Corwin have been named in the same role at the unnamed JV, reporting to the company’s president, Tim Hincks.

They have been in the top US job at Endemol since last October, when they replaced David Goldberg, who is now launching Banijay Studios.

Meanwhile, former Martha Stewart Omnimedia and Weinstein Company exec Peter Hurwitz has been named CEO of Core.

His appointment fills the gap left when former NBC boss Marc Graboff revealed his departure ahead of the formal announcement of the JV.

When 21^st Century Fox and Apollo Global Management confirmed the joint venture earlier this month, they revealed Core would keep its own capital structure, meaning it will operate separately to the Endemol-Shine side of the business.

With Abrego and Corwin running the US operations of the merged meda-indie, current Shine America CEO Rich Ross is leaving. He has been named president of Discovery Channel, succeeding Marjorie Kaplan.

The development come just days after Hincks, who is currently Endemol group president, was named as president of the new JV. He reports to Sophie Turner Laing, who is CEO of the group, which is currently waiting on regulatory clearances.

“Cris and Charlie are exceptionally creative entrepreneurs and leaders who are tremendously respected by the creative community, partners, and colleagues alike,” said Turner Laing and Tim Hincks in a statement.

“Together with Peter we couldn’t ask for stronger executives to spearhead the venture’s US operations into a new phase of creativity and growth.”

New Core chief Hurwitz described the TV industry as being in the middle of a “transformative time”, and said his new business would be a “magnet for creative talent”.
