Forever endures as ABC takes last Selfie
US broadcast network ABC has given a full season order to supernatural procedural drama Forever, while cancelling freshman comedy Selfie.
Forever (pictured), about an immortal New York medical examiner, has not garnered a large number of 18-49 viewers – just a 1.2 rating in its most recent episode – but does score well when DVR viewings are included. This has prompted ABC to hand it a back nine episode order.
ABC has already given full season orders to Shonda Rhimes drama How to Get Away with Murder and comedy Black-ish.
Selfie will not get a back nine, however, which effectively ends its run after a sequence of low ratings. The series, a modern day Eliza Doolittle story, joins another ABC comedy, Manhattan Love Story, on the scrapheap.
It will go to the end of its first nine, with holiday specials filling in from December 2.
Warner Bros. Television produces both Forever and Selfie.
