Jane Street hires ex-Boundless exec Davies
US producer Jane Street Entertainment has hired UK-based executive Gemma Davies to become its VP of development.
Davies previously worked at FremantleMedia-owned UK prodco Boundless and at Twofour Broadcast (now Twofour Group). She has worked on unscripted shows such as UKTV’s Choccywoccydoodah and ITV’s Magaluf Weekender.
Davies will now run Jane Street’s development unit and be responsible for creating character-driven docu-series and original formats for US broadcast and cable channels.
She reports to Jane Street co-founders Donna MacLetchie and Linda Lea.
Joining her is John Varela, who has been named director of development after exiting Andrew Jenks Entertainment. Varela is also formerly of MTV Networks (now Viacom Media Networks). He will report to Davies.
Jane Street’s current slate includes Food Network franchises Rachel v. Guy and Chopped, plus RowHouse Showdown for FYI; Young, Hot and Crooked for Investigation Discovery and Psychic Matchmaker for TLC.
