Discovery buys Cosmos doc series
Discovery has picked up Strip the Cosmos, a six-part series about the secrets of the universe.
The CGI-laden series, produced by UK indie Windfall Films, will launch on Discovery in the UK and then roll out on its other international channels.
The show follows on from another Windfall series that has gone out on Discovery, Strip the City.
Dan Korn, Discovery’s senior VP & head of programming said: “Throughout the series we hear from the world’s preeminent geologists, astronomers and cosmologists, who between them shed new light on the inter-stellar and gravitational forces that have shaped our universe.”
The Discovery acquisition comes after its rival factual channel Nat Geo aired its reboot of classic Carl Sagan space doc Cosmos – Cosmos : A Spacetime Odyssey – around the world on its pay channels. It also went out on Fox in the US.
