Java Films buys and sells China docs
Java Films has sold China: The Corrupt Republic (pictured) to a raft of international broadcasters and picked up rights to another China-focused doc, Human Harvest: China’s Illegal Organ Trade.
One-off doc China: The Corrupt Republic is produced by France-bases Magneto Presse and looks at corruption in the People’s Republic.
Indie factual distributor Java has shopped it to DR in Denmark, TVN Poland, SIC in Portugal, ZDF in Germany, ORF in Austria, RTBF in Belgium, YLE in Finland, and RTS in Switzerland.
Following the IDFA documentary festival in Amsterdam, Java has also taken international rights to Human Harvest: China’s Illegal Organ Trade.
The doc is produced by Canadian indie Flying Cloud Productions and looks at the market in human organs in China.
Kathryn Bonnici, head of acquisitions and development at Java said: “We know that there’s a huge market for ground-breaking current affairs documentaries, and Java Films have unique experience in placing these films with international broadcasters.”
