Head of US scripted at eOne stepping down
Michael Rosenberg, Entertainment One’s head of scripted TV, is stepping down, TBI has learned.
Rosenberg will leave his post as executive VP, US scripted TV at the Canadian-US studio to return to the production sector.
Rosenberg was upped from SVP to EVP in 2012 soon after the exit of previous drama chief Noreen Halpern.
It is understood that eOne will seek to replace Rosenberg. In the short term, Carrie Stein, EVP, global production, and Gerard Bocaccio, who joined eOne as EVP, US scripted development this summer, will cover his responsibilities.
Rosenberg will remain with eOne until early next year, likely departing late winter or early spring before heading back to a production role, details of which are not known.
His credits at the company include HBO series Hung and Klondike, which was Discovery’s first-ever drama. He also worked on eOne scripted series Hell on Wheels and Call Me Fitz.
UK-listed eOne has committed to ambitious growth plans, recently telling investors it will double in size in in the next five years, with TV a crucial part of the strategy.
Several high-level changes have been made on the TV side of the business with Stuart Baxter coming in to replace Peter Emerson as distribution chief and Prentiss Fraser leaving for Fox International Channels Content Sales – as first reported by TBI.
The company is expected to make several key TV hires in the coming months including an EMEA production boss, which TBi also first reported nearly a year ago.
In its native Canada, eOne is looking for a head of television after Margaret O’Brien transitioned into an M&A and corporate EVP role. It is understood her previous duties might be spread over two new roles: a head of TV and a COO.
Until recently, eOne has two Michael Rosenberg’s in its executive ranks. Michael E. Rosenberg was president of film at its US division, before leaving at the start of the year to helm indie movie business Film Movement.
eOne declined to comment today.
