Canadian Netflix rival taps into The Wire
Canadian OTT service CraveTV has acquired all seasons of The Wire and will launch remastered episodes of the classic HBO series.
Recently-launched CraveTV has been on a buying spree to bulk up its catalogue, and The Wire is the latest in a long line of recent TV series acquisitions.
In Canada it has exclusive rights to the HBO library. It said that all episodes of The Wire have been remastered and will be available in high definition.
CraveTV is run by telco and TV company Bell, which will launch The Wire in HD on its Bravo specialty channel before episodes then become available on the OTT service.
“There is no doubt that The Wire is one of the greatest television series ever created,” said Mike Cosentino, senior VP, programming, Bell Media. “Now in HD, we are providing the best possible viewing for fans who have always loved The Wire.”
