YouTube star lands E! comedy talk show
A YouTube star with more than two million subscribers will host a comedy talk show for NBCUniversal-owned cable channel E! Entertainment.
E! has given the greenlight to The Grace Helbig Project (WT), which is based on the It’s Grace YouTube channel.
The show will see Grace Helbig – dubbed an “uber fan” for her love of popular culture – highlight trends and conduct interviews with celebrities.
“This show is a fresh take on the conventional talk show with a very unconventional host who has already captured an enormous fan base of young viewers on the web,” said Jeff Olde, executive VP, original programming and development at E!.
New York-based prodco Embassy Row will prodice the show, with Michael Davies, Amanda McPhillips, Ken Treusch and Helbig executive producing.
E! said goodbye to its president, Suzanne Kolb, in September last year as part of a restructure that saw long-serving NBCU exec Frances Berwick taking on the channel along with an expanded NBCU Lifestyle Group.
