Robinson out as Endemol Shine reveals UK team
Tim Robinson is leaving the Endemol Shine Group as the mega-indie this morning revealed its UK management team.
Early indications were that Robinson, previously Shine Group’s COO, was negotiating what one source described as a “top international role”, but this has not come to pass. He will exit in the spring.
The news came concurrently with the announcements Endemol UK COO Richard Johnson has been named CEO of Endemol Shine UK and Endemol UK CEO Lucas Church as chairman of Endemol Shine UK and the wide group’s commercial board.
Johnson will now oversee a group of UK prodcos including Artists Studio, Brown Eyed Boy, DSP, Dragonfly, Fifty Fathoms, House of Tomorrow, Initial, Kudos, Lovely Day, Princess Productions, Remarkable Television, Shine North, Shine Soho, Shine TV, Tiger Aspect, Tigress and Zeppotron.
Besides chairing Endemol Shine UK, Church will oversee areas such as digital video, gaming, apps and brand relations.
“Lucas and Richard have both played a central role in driving the expansion of Endemol’s traditional television business as well as innovating into new areas like online digital video,” said Tim Hincks, will have overall control of the UK business as president of Endemol Shine Group. “They are ideally suited to help grow the new group’s wide ranging UK operations and international commercial initiatives.”
“Tim Robinson is owed huge gratitude for his time as COO at Shine and I’d like to personally thank him for his support and the insight he has contributed over recent months which has helped shape the new group’s structure,” added Sophie Turner Laing CEO, Endemol Shine Group. “I wish him the very best in whatever the future may hold for him.”
“It has been six hugely enjoyable years with Shine and now is the right point for me to leave and the new team take the company into its next chapter,” said Robinson. “I have no doubt the exceptional producers and astute commercial colleagues that I have had the privilege of working with over these years will flourish supported by the new group team, and am very happy to continue to be around for the next few months to help this process and get those relationships underway.”
Robinson had been COO of Shine Group since 2013, having joined the company in 2008. He roles such as deputy commercial director, Europe; deputy CEO of Metronome (now Shine Nordics; and COO of Shine Australia before becoming group chief operating officer. He will remain with the company during a transition period.
His departure follows those of key Shine executives including founder Elisabeth Murdoch, CEO Alex Mahon and Shine International chief exec Nadine Nohr. The branding and top level structures at Endemol Shine Group was recently announced, with only Gary Carter from Shine taking a major post.
Endemol and Shine merged with Core Media Group following an agreement parent companies 21st Century Fox and Apollo Global Management struck last year. The resulting business is the largest ‘independent’ production company in the world.
