Discovery sets global launch for Holocaust doc
Discovery Communications is to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by rolling out a doc on the subject in more than 200 territories.
One Day in Auschwitz will launch internationally on Discovery Channel and in the US on Discovery Channel and American Heroes Channel on January 25.
The doc follows an 89-year-old Polish-English Holocaust survivor’s return to the camp 70 years after she was liberated from it. Discovery airs it in partnership with The University of Southern California’s Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual history and Education, which director Steven Spielberg established.
Furthermore, Spielberg’s drama Schindler’s List will air on Discovery Channel in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Africa, as well as on AHC in the US without commercial breaks.
One Day in Auschwitz comes from USC Shoah Foundation, for whom Steven D. Smith executive produces. Discovery Networks International’s VP, development and production, Elizabeth MacIntyre; AHC’s senior VP, production, Sara Kozak; and AHC EP Ron Simon executive produce for cable giant Discovery.
