Germany’s WDR adds two execs
German regional pubcaster WDR has hired two new execs who will work on its international business.
Nicole Offergeld and Julia Jaensch (pictured) have both joined WDR mediagroup’s content division, reporting to Stefanie Fischer, the ex-ProSiebenSat.1 exec the broadcaster poached last year as it started on an international coproduction drive.
Offergeld will be sales manager, international. She joins from Red Arrow where she was selling content into eastern Europe pay and VOD platforms.
At WDR she will sell kids programming from the broadcaster, which has titles including Bobo and The Show with the Mouse in its catalogue.
Jaensch has taken the role of manager, acquisition and coproduction. She joins from UK-based video production firm 90 Seconds having previously been at ZDF Enterprises and Viacom.
“As a coproducer, we’re able to acquire attractive programmes for our portfolio early on, thereby ensuring that the content gets distributed as widely as possible – this also includes the commercial exploitation of country-specific versions,” said Stefanie Fischer. “With the two new members of staff, we’re well placed to commercially exploit the potential of the existing children’s programmes and brands for the international market.”
