M6 takes UK’s Undateables to France
French network M6 has ordered a local version of UK documentary format The Undateables.
Pernel Media will produce the French version, Mon Partenaire Particulier. The show will run in primetime with an unspecified number of 70-minute episodes.
Discovery Communications-owned prodco Betty originally created the format, which runs on Channel 4 in the UK. The producer and Discovery sold the French rights directly to Pernel, which then brought M6 on board.
The format follows the dating experiences of several singletons with disabilities, learning difficulties and physical disfigurements.
Pernel Media founder Samuel Kissous will executive produce Mon Partenaire Particulier. The show marks the sixth UK format Pernel has adapted for France in the past five years.
“Adapting a format as ambitious as The Undateables in France requires a very thorough development process,” said Kissous. “We also garnered support from many organisations and officials in order to create the best possible version of this remarkable show for the French market.”
