TV Land president exits Viacom
Viacom’s US cable channel TV Land is saying goodbye to its long-serving president, Larry Jones, as part of a restructure.
Jones, who joined Viacom in 1988 and later helped to launch TV Land and helmed its launch into scripted programming in 2009, is exiting, with the news coming a day after another Viacom stalwart, MTV Networks Music & Logo Group president Van Toffler, announced he was leaving.
Jones’ departure is part of a Viacom restructure, which president Philippe Dauman first pointed to in January.
It also comes as TV Land comedy Hot in Cleveland is set to end. Plans to shift to more younger-skewing single-cam comedy such as the upcoming Impastor has been drawn up.
“It’s truly not an overstatement to say that I have loved every second of being at TV Land for the past 18 years as part of my 27 years with Viacom,” said Jones in an internal memo. “With that said, due to the restructuring, I will be stepping down from my role with the company.”
