Astro does deal for Japanese content
Malaysian pay TV giant has inked a deal with Japanese talent agency and prodco Yoshimoto and Hong Kong’s Content Land, and will distribute their content throughout Southeast Asia.
A raft of Japanese drama, factual and unscripted content is now available on the Astro’s Quan Jia HD channel. As part of its Japanese line-up, it will have a Japanese comedy, or ‘Tanoshi’, block with shows including Samurai Boys Travelling (pictured), Travel Salad and Yatata Girls Travelling.
Choo Chi Han, head of Chinese customer business, Astro said: “As a result of our partnership with Yoshimoto and Content Land, we now have an impressive lineup of new, exciting, and quality Japanese content our platform.”
K.O. Ryutaro, head of Asia and overseas business at Yoshimoto added: “We are delighted that Japanese content is now making its debut on Astro. Congratulations on the milestone.”
