Netflix UK buys ABC fantasy drama
Netflix has acquired rights for ABC fantasy drama One Upon a Time for the UK and Ireland.
The Disney Media Distribution-sold show previously went out in the UK on Channel 5, but the broadcaster did not tale the third season, and Netflix has instead swooped for the first three seasons and the fourth.
New episodes will be added three days after their US broadcast on Stateside network television.
The series, which is produced by ABC Studios, tells the story of Emma Swan and the child she abandoned at birth as they navigate the weird world of fairytales.
Internationally, DMD has previously sold the show to the likes of Fox International Channels for Asia, as TBI reported 17 months ago.
Meanwhile, Netflix has acquired first-run rights to 6 Years, a movie from the Hannah Fidell and the Duplass brothers about a young couple whose relationship is trained by job opportunities.
Netflix recently signed a four-picture agreement with Mark and Jay Duplass, the indie filmmakers that are behind a spate of low-budget, high-acclaim films.
The deal is suggested to have cost around US$1 million, and will see Netflix debut the film internationally later this year.
