Sky Atlantic has Affair with award-winner
UK and Ireland pay channel Sky Atlantic has acquired The Affair, the Golden Globe-winning drama in which Dominic West (The Wire) and Ruth Wilson (Luther) play people engaged in an illicit relationship.
The deal with CBS Studios International covers the first season of the Showtime series, which will begin broadcasting in May, plus the recently-announce second.
Besides its home in the US, the show will air in Canada as part of the upcoming Showtime Canada channel and has been sold to Spanish SVOD platform Movistar Series as part of a wider agreement.
The series explores the emotional and psychological effects of an extramarital affair played out from the differing male and female perspectives.
Sky Atlantic’s director, Zai Bennett, said the show’s “intricate storytelling and phenomenal acting sit perfectly on the channel, further cementing our channel’s position as the home of quality drama in the UK”.
