MGM travels with Burnett’s A.D.
MGM International Television Distribution is taking Mark Burnett-produced bible-themed scripted series A.D.: Kingdom and Empire to MIPTV.
The 12x60mins NBC show top-lines the US studio’s latest slate. Unofficially billed as the follow up to Burnett’s ultra-successful History show The Bible, it follows bitter political rivalries in the era of Jesus Christ as the Apostles, Pontius Pilate and others struggle to control the Holy land.
The show is produced by United Artists Media Group, the consolidated producer that was created after MGM bought 55% of Burnett and Hearst Entertainment-owned One Three Media and its faith-focused programme division Lightworkers Media. This revived the classic United Artists brand.
MGM, which also sells The Bible and other series such as Fargo and Vikings, will also be selling upcoming James Bond film Spectre and Rocky reboot Creed in Cannes.
