Thai net bounces with Turner’s Pogo
Thai free-to-air network Channel 3 debuts a two-hour branded block from Turner Broadcasting System today.
The block will broadcast shows from TBS’s Indian children’s channel Pogo between 4-6pm on weekdays and 7-9am on weekends. This includes first runs of live-action shows such as M.A.D. and science-themed F.A.Q.,plus Indian animated series Chhota Bheem (pictured).
Following the launch, Turner and Channel 3 is look at coproduction opportunities and the possibility of local productions.
This marks the first time Turner has taken the Pogo brand beyond India. Toonami and Boomerang already run in Thailand on satellite and cable provider the Major Kantana Group, while Cartoon Network is a premium channel on TrueVisions.
“For more than a decade, kids in India have loved Pogo and we are confident that its content will also work well in Thailand,” said Turner International Asia Pacific’s senior VP and managing director, Phil Nelson.
“It’s yet another example of how Turner is creating engaging local viewing solutions and we’re looking forward to working closely with Channel 3.”
Channel 3’s executive VP Surin Krittiyaphongphun added: “We’re also looking forward to seeing how the brand evolves and develops in the coming months.”
