DCD’s Principal drama set for Cannes
DCD Rights to bringing character-driven drama The Principal.
The 4x60mins SBS drama from Essential Media is the latest Australia drama on the books of DCD Media’s sales arm.
The show stars Alex Dimitriades (The Slap) and Aden Young (The Code), and follows a radical head teacher whose attempts to reform a troubled secondary school are curtailed when a student is found dead on the grounds.
“New mini-series The Principal from Essential Media promises to be a powerful drama, combining a murder mystery with the realities and moral complexities of life today, and we’re confident it will resonate very well with our international clients at MIPTV,” said DCD Rights CEO Nicky Davies Williams.
Meanwhile, DCD has sold The Slap to Hulu in the US, Societe Radio Canada and Kino Polska in Poland, and seasons one and two of another Essential series, Rake, to Fox International Channels to Africa.
