Bake Off hits Australia
Bake Off will launch in Australia after Foxtel ordered a local version of the hit format.
The Great Australian Bake Off will be on the pay TV operator’s Food channel after BBC Worldwide shopped the show to Foxtel.
The local version of the Love Productions-created cooking competition series will be produced by FremantleMedia Australia, which has a deal to make BBC Worldwide entertainment formats in Australia and New Zealand.
Well-known Australian culinary expert Maggie Beer and acclaimed chef Matt Moran will host and judge the Australian Bake Off.
The Bake Off format has now been licensed in 18 territories and is one of the most successful international formats of recent times.
BBC Worldwide and FMA already work together on Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook Melbourne and the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars.
Jon Penn, managing director of BBC Worldwide ANZ, said: “Our partnership with FMA has now delivered a third quality TV production commission adding greatly to our strengthening portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.”
