Corus secures all Nick rights in Canada
Corus Entertainment has scored a coup, securing rights to all Nickelodeon programming and content in Canada.
This means Nick’s programming will run on English- and French-language Corus channels in the territory, as well digital platforms. In total, the rights package comprises linear, non-linear, OTT, SVOD, electronic sell-through, games and apps.
Corus has run Nick programming on family channels YTV and Treehouse since 2005, and launched a branded Nick channel in 2009, but this new pact significant widens the offer.
“This marks a new phase of our enhanced partnership with Nickelodeon and builds on Corus’ 10-year history as a trusted steward for the brand,” said Doug Murphy, president and CEO of Toronto-based Corus.
Nick’s key series include perennials such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and iCarly, while its preschool offer includes Dora and Friends, Team Umizoomi and Bubble Guppies.
“We have a well-established track record of success with Corus. We’re thrilled to extend and deepen our partnership, which marries the power of our brand and award-winning kids’ content with the leading children’s media company in Canada,” said Pierluigi Gazzolo (pictured), president of VIMN Americas and executive VP of Nickelodeon International.
