Burnett, Darnell ask 500 Questions in Cannes
US production gurus Mark Burnett and Mike Darnell will be in Cannes next week at an exclusive preview event for their ABC gameshow 500 Questions.
The primetime show’s presenter, CNN’s Richard Quest, will also meet buyers at the event on Monday, April 13. Burnett is exec producer of the ABC show and Darnell creator.
The event gameshow is to go out on broadcast network ABC in the US. It sees the smartest people in a country compete to achieve the seemingly impossible task of answering 500 general knowledge questions without getting more than three long in a row.
“500 Questions brings together an unrivalled combination of Mark Burnett and Mike Darnell, two of the world’s most trusted and successful primetime entertainment producers,” said Andrew Zein, senior VP, creative, format development and sales at Warner Bros. International Television Production.
Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution distributes the show internationally, with WBITVP handling format sales.
“This is a show unlike any seen in years — original in structure, immediately accessible in game play and epic in suspense, with big characters competing against the clock. The entire show is staged within an incredible-looking and high-concept studio setting.”
The show comes from Burnett’s United Artists Media Group (Shark Tank, The Voice) in association with Warner Horizon Television, which Darnell oversees as Warner Bros.’s president, unscripted and alternative television.
Burnett and Phil Parsons are exec producers.
