WDR catches Gigglebug

Germany’s WDRmediagroup has added Finnish toon Gigglebug to its catalogue at MIPTV.

The show, from Gigglebug Entertainment, follows a little bug with an irresistible laugh. An app based on the property is one of the top five preschool apps in 34 territories, and the TV series is forthcoming in April 2016.

WDR has been providing buyers with a teaser of the 26x5mins show, which targets children aged 3-6.

“There’s one thing all children love, no matter where they come from: they all love laughing, said Stefanie Fischer, head of content at WDRmg’s division for programme exploitation. “That’s why we’re convinced that the original and lovingly designed Gigglebug TV series can really build on the app’s success.”
