MIPTV attracts 11,000 delegates
The organisers of last week’s MIPTV said that 11,000 delegates were in Cannes for the international TV market.
The number is flat year-on-year and the same as that reported for the 2012, ’13 and ’14 editions of the event.
There were, Reed Midem said, 4,000 buyers in town 1,000 of whom were acquiring for digital services. It added that there was a notable increase in market attendees from the UK, China, Turkey and the Nordic territories.
The MIPFormats and MIPDoc events, which ran before the main MIPTV market, had 1,800 delegates in total.
Execs from TV companies in the Nordic region grouped together for the ‘Focus on the Nordics’, selling their content from a new space outside the Palais.
“The Nordic countries are a breeding ground for some of the hottest drama, border-breaking formats, cutting-edge web series and frontline mobile innovation,” said Reed Midem’s Laurine Garaude.
The mood at the market was largely upbeat, with distributors reporting most of the key buyers were in attendance.
