Sony ups Lim following Yan Jong Wong exit
Sony Pictures Television has elevated Virginia Lim to vice president, content and marketing at its Asian division.
TBI understands she has taken a wider role at Sony following the departure, of Yan Jong Wong, who previously oversaw English-language programming across the SPT channels.
In her new role at SPT Networks Asia, Lim (pictured) will oversee original and acquired programming and marketing and on-air promotion across the Sony portfolio of channels, which includes AXN, Animax, Gem and One.
She will be based in Singapore, reporting to Hui Keng Ang, senior VP and general manager for SPT Networks.
Sony has restructured its Asian production operations in the wake of Yan Jong Wong, who was vice president, programming – English content. She had been at Sony, in various roles, since 2000.
“We have streamlined and strengthened our business operations with a consolidated content group, enabling more effective collaboration internally and externally in this rapidly and competitive market environment,” said Ang. “I know that Virginia’s innovative vision will lead and drive further growth in SPT Networks’ content business in Asia.”
Lim has been with SPT since 2008, originally joining as director of programming for Animax. She was upped to vice president of Asian content in 2012.
