E! to document Bruce Jenner transition
Comcast’s channel E! Entertainment will document American celebrity Bruce Jenner’s transition to a transgender woman.
The currently untitled 8x60mins series was announced on Friday during an ABC interview with Jenner, the patriarch of the Kardashian reality TV family.
On US cable the show debuts on Sunday, July 26 at 9pm, and will also go out on E! channels worldwide.
News of Jenner’s decision to live as a woman has been headline news in the US over the weekend, and he has received an outpouring of support from the celebrity world. Jenner, an Olympic Gold medal-winning athlete, is currently continuing to live as a male in the public eye as the transition takes place.
“Bruce is incredibly courageous and an inspiration, and we are proud to be entrusted with this deeply personal and important story,” said Jeff Olde, executive VP, programming and development, E!. “This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time.”
Banijay Group-owned reality TV producer Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World) is producing. Jenner executive produces alongside Bumin/Murray boss Gil Goldschein, Jeff Jenkins, Farnaz Farjam and Andrea Metz.
A Banijay spokeswoman told TBI Banijay International would not sell the show as E! was retaining all worldwide rights.
