Nat Geo makes 4K physicist doc
The National Geographic Channel (NGC) in Japan has made its first-ever 4K doc, a special about reclusive Nobel Prize winner Shuji Nakamura.
The Light: Illuminated by Shuji Nakamura has been produced by Nat Geo, NTT Plala and I-Cast.
Nat Geo does not have a 4K service in Japan, but that version will be available, for free, on the Hikari-TV VOD service.
Nat Geo will transmit the HD version of the show, which has exclusive access to Nakamura, the 2014 Nobel Prize winner for physics, and follows his work and life in the US.
As well as Nakamura, his aide Hidetoshi Masunaga and fellow physicist and Nobel Prize winner Reona Esaka also appear in the doc.
The one-off will go out on Nat Geo’s international channels later this year.
