Comedy Central poaches BuzzFeed exec
Comedy Central has poached Philly Byrne from BuzzFeed to run its digital operations in the UK.
As digital director, Byrne will head up the digital team at Viacom’s Comedy Central UK, creating and implementing the strategy for the Comedy Central UK website.
He will report to Alison Bakunowich, vice president, creative, marketing and communications for Comedy Central & Nickelodeon UK and Ireland.
Byrne joins from digital news outlet BuzzFeed where he was associate creative director. His hire coes after Sam Delaney joined Comedy Central UK as editor-in-chief, digital in April last year.
The Viacom new recruit said: “I’m really excited to be joining Comedy Central, because they’ve asked me to help them solve a really fun problem: what kind of laughs should we deliver to people every day, and how can we support that with good data and sustainable revenue creation?”
