New series orders for MTV UK
The UK MTV channel has commissioned three new series and renewed two others.
The new orders include Car Crash Couples, an 8x60mins series about young couples on a long road trip. It will be made by 5Production, the programme-making division of Channel 5, which, like MTV, is owned by Viacom.
It marks the first time a Viacom channel has commissioned 5Production since Viacom bought Channel 5 last year. The show will bow next year.
Another new series is Judge Geordie, a spin-off from Geordie Shore (left), the UK version of MTV US series Jersey Shore.
All3Media-owned Lime Pictures will make the 10x60mins series, in which Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison attempts to solve relationship problems.
Hire Me (WT) comes from Argonon-owned UK prodco Remedy. It will follow young, but inept, jobseekers as they get a chance to work in their dream job.
It is the first commission for the new factual entertainment division of Remedy, which is run by Sophie Wurzer Williams.
The two renewals are dating series Ex On The Beach (right), which returns for third series.
Geordie Shore has also been renewed and will return MTV UK for an eleventh season. The cast of the reality series will travel top Greece for the new series run.
Kerry Taylor, senior VP and general manager, MTV UK said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with some of the UK’s best known production houses to bring our fans a stunning blend of brand new relatable commissions – Car Crash Couples, Hire Me and Judge Geordie – which are sure to resonate with our audiences and evolve into instant ratings winners and fuel the social media conversation.”
