US studios making Hollywood series for China’s CCTV
Several US studios have teamed to create Talking to Hollywood with Betty Zhou, a new Hollywood-skewed news programme for China’s CCTV6.
Zhou, a Chinese film star (The Man with the Iron Fists) and sport and movie programme presenter, will front the series, which she co-created with Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures.
Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment are credited as co-creating the show, which will air weekly on Friday evenings.
The series will go out on state broadcaster CCTV’s movie and entertainment themed CCTV6.
“Talking to Hollywood with Betty Zhou delivers an inside look at the movie business to its most passionate and dedicated fans in China,” said Moore. “My colleagues in Hollywood and I look forward to working with our friends at CCTV6 on this exciting new venture.”
In the show Zhou will interview Hollywood stars about their new projects. Paramount said she will drift races cars with Tom Cruise, spars with Arnold Schwarzenegger and meets Marvel’s Antman in early installments.
“Talking to Hollywood with Betty Zhou is unlike any show in China. I am thrilled to be bringing a bit of Hollywood glamour to Chinese audiences,” added Zhou.
