CBS format travels to Africa
CBS Studios International-distributed Kids Say the Darndest Things has been shopped into Nigeria, with the AIT channel ordering a local version of the evergreen format.
Nigerian prodco Bafot Studios will make the local version of the show, which will be available on the terrestrial AIT channel and via the DSTV platform, on which it is carried.
The show dates back to the 1940s when it was a segment on the Art Linkletter’s House Party series. It returned to CBS as a special in the mid 1990s before becoming a regular series on the UIS network between 1998 and 2000.
The Nigerian version will be fronted by actor and DJ Tony Okungbowa. He will ask kids questions in front of a live studio audience, eliciting funny and surprising results along the way.
Roxanne Pompa, vice president, International Sales and Production for CBS Studios International said: “We are thrilled to be working with executive producer Oludare Onasanya, Bafot Studios and AIT to bring this format to the African continent and Nigeria for the first time.”
Eric Schotz, executive consultant on the series added: “Kids Say the Darndest Things is a global brand. I think Nigeria is the ideal country to launch Kids Say the Darndest Things, with local children able to talk to a variety of different topics, from sport to family to politics.”
