Heaney’s TCB poaches Cineflix exec
TCB Media Rights chief Paul Heaney has recruited a managing director from his former company, Cineflix Media.
Katy Llewellyn-Jones becomes UK-based distributor TCB’s first MD, having been at Canada-based Cineflix since its creation in 2003.
The move represents Heaney’s biggest hire since creating TCB in late 2012 after leaving his CEO post at Cineflix’s distribution arm, Cineflix Rights.
The company has built a niche for itself representing factual and fact-ent shows from the likes of Arrow Media, Cordell Jigsaw Zapruder and Seven Productions.
Llewellyn-Jones was most recently senior VP, sales management at Cineflix Rights. Heaney had hired her as the firm’s first sales manager twelve years ago, and said today she would lead TCB “into its next phase of development”.
“The past 12 years at Cineflix Rights have been massively rewarding on many levels and have taught me a huge amount about this business,” said Llewellyn-Jones.
“TCB Media Rights is at a point in its lifecycle where the opportunities and strategies for growth present another fascinating learning curve. TCB is carving out a niche for itself in the commissioning, pre-sales and distribution world, and being involved at an executive level in this evolving business is all too irresistible a challenge.”
Chris Bonney, who replaced Heaney at Cineflix, said Llewellyn-Jones had played “an important role” at Cineflix Rights. “She has also been a valued and respected colleague and generous mentor,” he added. “This is a fantastic opportunity for her and we wish her all the best for this exciting career move.”
Llewellyn-Jones’s team at TCB will include the likes of Anna Budashevskaya, Mem Bakar, Daniela Bagliani, Claudia Zell and Karen Connell.
