Cirkus agrees Vodafone Iceland deal
On-demand service Cirkus, which offers ‘Great British TV’ to international markets, has agreed a carriage deal with Vodafone in Iceland.
Mobile and IPTV provider Vodafone Iceland is investing in cross-platform video services and will launch Cirkus as part of its offering at the end of the month.
“British programming is hugely popular in Iceland and I’m sure making the best of this programming available on- demand, wherever, whenever, will appeal to our subscribers,” said Vodafone Iceland COO Bjorn Viglundsson.
Mark Bradford, co-founder and director of Cirkus said: “This is another important step forward for Cirkus in the Nordic market and we’re delighted to partner with Vodafone to add Iceland to the growing number of countries that can now enjoy our service.”
Cirkus launched in Sweden in 2013 after agreeing a multi-year distribution deal with Swedish cable operator Com Hem. It has since launched in Norway and Finland, going live on TeliaSonera’s Finnish Sonera IPTV platform in December.
UK broadcaster ITV took a minority stake in Cirkus in 2014.
