Stan feels Power, adds Ash
Australian subscription on-demand service Stan has bought Starz series such as Power and the upcoming Ash Vs Evil Dead.
The deal for the aforementioned shows and ballet drama Flesh & Bone are exclusive and represent a debut in the market for the trio.
Stan made the first two episodes and all of season one of urban drama Power available yesterday. New episodes will go live on Sundays, hours after their US premium cable debuts.
This comes after Starz tied down Power creator Courtney Kemp Agboh to an exclusive overall deal. The launch of Power’s second season scored record numbers for a Starz original.
The Evil Dead spin-off Ash Vs Evil Dead is expected to premiere on Starz later this year, while Flesh & Bone debuts on Stan in November.
Stan’s deal with Starz’s digital sales unit, Starz Digital Media, also includes drama The White Queen, which debuts in August on the service alongside existing Starz-created shows such as Spartacus, Party Down and Magic City.
“We’re committed to bringing the best premium, first-run TV shows exclusively to Stan at the same time as they’re available in the US,” said Nick Forward, Stan’s content and product director.
“I can’t think of a better partner than Starz Digital to help fulfill those ambitions with their popular Starz original series programming.”
Stan, a joint venture between Nine Network and publisher Fairfax Media, launched this year with local exclusives such as Better Call Saul.
