Broadcasters buy A Deadly Adoption
Viacom-owned UK broadcaster Channel 5 and France’s TF1 are among the buyers of A Deadly Adoption, the Will Ferrell and Kristen Wigg spoof TV movie.
Ferrell stars in and produced the TV movie, which will go out on Channel 5 next month. In the US it bowed on Lifetime last Saturday, winning 2.1 viewers for the female-skewed US cable net.
Lifetime in the UK has pay TV rights and will show the film in a second window later this year. Lifetime also has rights in Poland and Africa.
A Deadly Adoption is produced by National Picture Show and distributed by LA-based Marvista Entertainment.
The spoof thriller follows a couple who house and care for a woman (Jessica Lowndes from 90210) during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her unborn child.
Marvista has also shopped the series to SBS Discovery in Sweden and NBCUniversal in Australia and Asia.
