Lifetime launches SVOD service
US cable channel Lifetime has launched an over-the-top subscription service offering its library to direct-to-television movies.
Lifetime Movie Club will be available to consumers for US$3.99 a month, and comes as the Lifetime Movies brand turns 25. At launch, it will be exclusive to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
The service will feature more than 30 movies with new titles added each week. There will also be featured playlists branded with titles such as ‘Sex & the Single Mom’ and ‘Summer Lovin’’.
Movies titles will include Flowers in the Attic, Coco Chanel, The Gwen Araujo Story, Too Young to Marry and Dawn Anna.
The week Lifetime has greenlit a Charles Manson-inspired telemovie, while The Hollywood Reporter has reported on another, The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story. Also coming up is The Unauthorized Full House Story, which will follow the recent Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story.
Lifetime has been rolling out internationally over the past few years, though the new service is just for the core US audience.
