Acorn buys EST for ESI’s Humans

US streaming and download service Acorn has acquired electronic sell-through rights to Humans, the English-language remake of Swedish drama Real Humans.

The show has been well received on Channel 4 in the UK and AMC in the US and Acorn, part of Agatha Christie rights owner RLJ, will sell EST and home entertainment in the US.

Episodes of the show will now be available a day after transmission, on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox Video and Sony Entertainment Network.

Acorn acquired the rights from Endemol Shine International. ESI’s UK prodco Kudos makes the series.

Acorn also runs a ‘best of British’ SVOD service in the US, but the ESI deal only covers EST.
