AMC tests SVOD horror site Shudder
AMC and DramaFever are now in the beta testing phase for their new joint venture project – a subscription horror site called Shudder.
Speaking to TBI’s sister publication DTVE yesterday, DramaFever’s head of marketing Yale Wang confirmed the trials and said that the site would primarily feature horror movies rather than TV content.
He added that Shudder access would cost a similar price to Doc Club, another site DramaFever has partnered with AMC on, which costs US$5 per-month a month or US$50 per year.
A landing page for Shudder first went live last year, with DramaFever co-founder Seung Bak mentioning at a conference in San Francisco last June that it planned to launch the service in 2015. Wang said a precise launch date is yet to be confirmed.
DramaFever is a US-based streaming site that specialises in international programming – particularly South Korean dramas and telenovellas.
AMC was an investor in DramaFever ahead of the firm’s buyout by Japanese telco Softbank in October last year.
DramaFever works with AMC to power the latter’s Sundance-branded Doc Club site – an SVOD service focused around feature-length documentaries. DramaFever will act as technology partner for Shudder.
