AMCNI buys Benelux teen drama
AMC Networks International – Central Europe has acquired live-action teen series Ghost Rockers.
AMCNI has taken pay TV rights and will air the show on its Megamax channel in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Moldova as of this month.
The first season of the show debuted in Belgium and the Netherlands in November 2014 and ran to 53 12-minute episodes. A second season is in the works.
Germany-based Studio 100 Media produces and distributes the show, in which five musically-gifted teenagers at a dance, acting and music academy who find the basement to be haunted by the ghosts of an old rock band.
In the Netherlands the show airs on RTL Telekids, while in Belgium it is on Ketnet. Norway’s NRK also broadcasts the show.
“We are quite excited about the premiere of Ghost Rockers on Megamax,” said Szilvia Maschek, head of kids channels for AMCNI – Central Europe. “It’s going to be an appealing addition to the special programme block that is planned for our music-themed selection.”
