The Last Panthers to stalk Cannes
Upcoming heist drama The Last Panthers will be the World Premiere Screening at MIPCOM in October.
The big-budget Sky Atlantic and Canal+ copro will be screened on the Monday of the market in the Grand Auditorium. Cast members will then take part in a Q&A with Samantha Morton (below right) expected to be in attendance.
It is the latest example of a high-end drama coproduction between content firms in France and the UK. The six-part series will debut on Canal+ later in October and on Sky Atlantic at a later date.
International sales of The Last Panthers are being handled by Studiocanal and Sky’s Sky Vision.
France’s Haut et Court TV (The Returned) and UK-based Warp Films (Southcliffe) are producing the series, which opens with a daring diamond heist in which a small child is accidentally killed.
“The Last Panthers is emblematic of this new breed of event series that are internationally coproduced, set in different countries, feature A-list talent, and which have proved to be a great success in the international marketplace,” said Laurine Garaude, director of Reed Midem’s Television Division.
