DramaFever secures CJ E&M output
Streamed video site DramaFever has secured a multi-year agreement with South Korean producer and distributor CJ E&M.
The deal hands US-based DramaFever, which offers Asian and Latino programming with subtitles, Korean television series and feature films.
DramaFever is guaranteed eight ‘K-drama’ scripted series, ten exclusive new movies and more than 350 hours of other drama and variety shows.
The deal covers the US and Canada, with some titles available in Latin America, and DramaFever gets the rights to redistribute through Hulu and iTunes.
“As Korean entertainment continues to grow in popularity and influence around the world and across the US, we are committed to partnering with companies across all media platforms to help maximise the reach of our properties, and embracing the loyal fan culture that has developed online, via social media, as well as in person at events like KCON,” said Mark W. Shaw, CEO of CJ E&M America.
“DramaFever has established itself as a go-to destination for fans of K-dramas, and is an ideal home for our series and films. We look forward to building and growing this partnership together.”
Japan’s SoftBank acquired DramaFever in October last year, while CJ E&M has made international headlines after its Grandpas Over Flowers travelogue format was sold into the US, to broadcast network NBC.
