IFC teams with Vice on doc comedy
US cable net IFC and hipster youth brand Vice have joined forces to launch new comedy series Documentary Now!.
The show will premiere on Vice.com today, ten days before it hits linear channel IFC in a 10pm slot.
The series stars Jack Black who plays a character based on Shane Smith, the founder of Vice. The show is hosted by Helen Mirren (The Queen) and will, in each episode, parody a different style of documentary making.
As well as Vice.com, the launch episode of the comedy will be on IFC.com, YouTube, VOD, iGuide, and several TV Everywhere platforms.
Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president, said: “We could not be more excited for this show to premiere or more thankful to Vice and a wide range of distribution partners for helping to make this sneak peak episode of Documentary Now! so broadly available on so many platforms.”
