Turner takes Honourable Woman to Lat Am
Turner Broadcasting Latin America has acquired BBC political-thriller drama The Honourable Woman from BBC Worldwide.
The Maggie Gyllenhaal vehicle will debut on Turner-owned TNT Series in the 33 million homes throughout the region on August 22.
The eight-part series stars Gyllenhaal (Secretary) as a woman campaigning for Middle Eastern peace who is caught up in a conspiracy after a Palestinian she had awarded a lucrative contract to is murdered.
“When I was offered this show I had no doubt it would outstand and strengthen the TNT Series catalogue, and now that it has achieved so important awards and nominations it is an honour to receive the series in our growing channel”, said Mariano Cesar, VP and channel manager of TNT & TNT Series Latin America.
“The Honourable Woman is one of the most applauded dramas of 2014, recognised for its brilliant cast and thought-provoking narrative,” said BBCWW’s new executive VP, Latin America and US Hispanic.
“The series exemplifies the premium British content that BBC Worldwide has built a reputation for offering, and we are thrilled to be extending this offering to the TNT Series audience in Latin America.”
The Honourable Woman debuted on BBC One in the UK and Sundance Channel in the US, before the BBC’s commercial arm went on to sell it to various channels around the world.
