De Agostini scores major DreamWorks deal
De Agostini Editore, which operates Italian channel DeAKids, has secured an output deal comprising more than 600 episodes with US studio DreamWorks Animation.
As of next month, DeAKids will begin broadcasting various DreamWorks shows on the kids pay TV channel, with Planeta Junior also taking licensing rights in southern Europe and the central and eastern Europe region.
The deal was struck through Planeta Junior, which is a joint venture content creation company between De Agostini Editore and Spain’s Grupo Planeta.
The first shows to launch are All Hail King Julien, which was created for Netflix and is a spin-off of movie Madagascar, and The Adventures of Puss in Boots, which spun out of the Shrek franchise.
Two well-known Italian personalities, singer Francesco Facchinetti and local YouTube star Francesco Sole, will introduce the shows, with the latter producing exclusive content around Puss in Boots for the TV channel and the Super! website, which is part of De Agostini network.
