MTG, CBS team for I Love Lucy adaptation

The Latvian division of the Modern Times Group is making a local version of classic US comedy I Love Lucy.

The format is owned by CBS Studios International, which also sells the finished version and struck the deal with MTG Latvia.

The original Lucille Ball series was on CBS in the US, starting in 1951 and ending in 1957. The new adaptation will be called Darling Monika and go out on MTG’s free-to-air channel LNT. It will run to ten episodes.

“Sixteen years ago Darling Monika was the most popular sitcom in Latvia. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of LNT we decided to bring back Monika. We believe it is one of the most awaited television events of this autumn,” said MTG Latvia’s Ginta Bormane.
