Disney Channel gets Stuck in the Middle

US cable network Disney Channel has commissioned a family comedy starring Jenna Ortega as an engineering genius who uses her inventions to navigate life as a middle child.

Stuck in the Middle goes into production in November ahead of a spring 2016 debut.

Ortega (Jane the Virgin) will play the middle child of seven, with Ronni Hark, Kayla Maisonet and Nicholas Bechtel among those playing her siblings.

The single cam comedy will be told from her point of view as she goes through life feeling overlooked.

Linda Videtti Figueiredo (Rules of Engagement) executive produces and will be showrunner. Alison Brown (Dog with a Blog) wrote the pilot and with Videtti Figueiredo, and will also write the series,
