News brief: DiCaprio making mob drama for Showtime
Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio is working on a new mafia series for US premium cable net Showtime.
The star’s prodco Appian Way, is developing the series, which will be set in 1980s New York.
DiCaprio will exec produce alongside Brett Johnson and Bryan Zuriff, who join from another Showtime series, Ray Donovan.
Appian is increasingly working on small-screen series. Its previous projects include conservation doc Virunga for Netflix and has a programming deal with the streaming service.
