Nordic World adds Monday, Feelgood shows
Distributor Nordic World has scored representation deals with pan-Scandinavian producer Monday Media and Norway’s Feelgood Scene Film & TV.
This gives the London- and Oslo-based firm 200 hours of new programming for its MIPCOM catalogue.
Monday is the only remaining pan-Scandinavian independent producer. TV2-owned Nordic World has picked up the firm’s entire formats, ready-made and drama catalogue, taking over from previous distributor Banijay International.
Denmark-based Monday’s biggest titles include new half-hour reality show Meet n’ Eat (pictured), in which a celebrity chef visits their foreign neighbor, who teaches them the best way to cook dishes from their homeland. The chef then creates the dish for celebrity friends.
Feelgood’s top title is mockumentary Totally Perfect, which is currently in its fifth season of a Discovery Networks Norway channel. The 50x23mins show centres of the seemingly perfect life of comedian Thomas Giertsen, who is actually prone to disaster.
“Our heartland remains the Nordic territories, which continue to produce some the freshest, funniest programming in the world,” said Espen Huseby, CEO of Nordic World. “Monday and Feelgood represent the best of Nordic creativity. Their content is not only clever and compelling, but it’s also been tried and tested in a fiercely competitive local market.
“While we continue to seek opportunities outside our home turf, these deals confirm that we remain the partner of choice for the most creative producers and rights-owners in the Nordic region.”
“This new relationship with Nordic World marks a step change for Monday, as we ramp up our investment in original content with international appeal,” said Morten Bank, managing director of Monday.
“Our focus on agenda-setting documentary, engaging lifestyle and factual entertainment, and innovative comedy is a perfect fit with Nordic World’s catalogue. We are confident that this marks the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”
