RTL takes Hostages

German free-to-air broadcaster RTL has acquired scripted series Hostages.

RTL will put the show on its RTL Crime channel. It is co-distributed by Armoza and Federation and the latter struck the German deal.

The Isreali-originated drama plays on Canal+ in France and has been sold to buyers including the BBC in the UK.

It follows a renowned surgeon, who is thrown into the middle of a political conspiracy when hostage takers demand she kills the president during routine surgery or have her family murdered.

Production has just started on season two of the show.

“Hostages season 2 promises to be even bigger and bolder with an all-new cast, exciting new storylines and magnificent production values that has the explosive action jump out of the screen,” said Pascal Breton, CEO of Federation Entertainment. “We are thrilled to launch distribution of both the first and second seasons of this extraordinary hit thriller at MIPCOM.”
